My Name is Hector Cortés. I am named after my father Hector
F. Cortés. My parents didn’t know what name they should give me, so they just decided
to name me after my dad. In the Dictionary Hector means bully, braggart, which
is surprising because, I’m not a bully or a braggart. Hector is also the name
of the Trojan prince in Greek mythology. He was the greatest soldier in Troy he
fought against Achilles and died. I almost never come across people that are
named Hector. I guess it isn’t a popular name.
My last name Cortés, to me, it means
family. Cortés is a Spanish name. One of the most famous person in history was
a Cortés. Hernan Cortés the Spanish conquistador. Cortés derives from the words
“courteous” and “polite”. Cortés also means to cut if the accent is removed.
I will never
change my name even if someone paid me to do it. Both my last name and my first
mean too much for me to change them.
I have to agree with you. I couldn't change my name even if someone paid me. We were given our names for a reason.
ReplyDeleteI agree about changing my name it just wouldn't feel right to do it. I like how families pass down names in my family the men pass down Michael as a first or middle name.

ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you look at your last name like that. We all should take pride from where we come from.
ReplyDeleteIt's admirable to embrace your last name and to carry it with pride; not many of us do. I’m glad you've done so. As a wise man once told me, “your last name is your legacy”.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how close you hold your name to yourself. I also wouldn't want to change my name if I was given the chance.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was funny when you said that your parents didn't know a name so they used your dads. Hey, maybe you will be the proud owner of a great company.
ReplyDeleteYour first name has nice history to it. I think my parents did the same thing in naming me too.
ReplyDeleteEverybody should always take pride on their last name. Glad you think that way.
ReplyDeleteI was also named after my father. I agree that changing out names just won't be right.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name, my father's name is also Hector. Stay proud of where your name comes from, because sadly I know a few people who don't like theirs.
